Author of his 50th goal of the season with Bayern Munich in all competitions this Saturday afternoon in the draw at Wolfsburg (2-2) as part of the 34th and last day of the Bundesliga, will Robert Lewandowski wear still the Bavarian club jersey at the end of next summer? The future of the 33-year-old player, courted by Barça, is the subject of a major soap opera.
Before the meeting of the day, Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, had already confirmed that Lewandowski wanted to leave this summer, one year from the end of his contract, as had already filtered in the press. But the leader also took the opportunity to close the door to a potential departure of his star (more info here).
In this burning context around his future, Lewandowski appeared in front of Polish television. “It’s very possible that this will be my last game for Bayern. I can’t say that 100%, but maybe it was (my last game, editor’s note). We want to find the best solution for me. and for the club, explained the international with 129 caps and 75 goals, in remarks reported by
Robert Lewandowski: "It's very possible that this was my last game for Bayern. I cannot say that at 100%, but it may have been (my last). We want to find the best solution for me and for the club" [@viaplaysportpl] pic.twitter.com/LHvcTqNPt5— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) May 14, 2022
“I will not extend my contract with Bayern”
Also interviewed by the German edition of Sky Sports, the main interested party again raised the subject, very clearly opening the door to a departure from Bayern Munich: “I can confirm that I have spoken with Hasan (Salihamidzic, editor’s note) and informed him that my decision has been made and that I will not be extending my contract with Bayern. Both parties need to think about the future. We have to find the best solution for both parties.”
And to continue: “I told Hasan that if an offer comes in, we have to think about it, also for the club. Both sides have to think about the future. I can’t say more.” Relaunched on the fact that Bayern Munich could reject all offers from other clubs about him, Robert Lewandowski continued: “Of course I still have a year on my contract. But I said we have to find the best solution for both parties. We will have to wait and see what happens.” The soap opera is on track to last a little longer.
