Moroccan Houssam Elkord won the silver medal in the epee category at the Senior Fencing World Cup held in Heidenheim, Germany.

Elkord, 29, ousted China’s Mingaho Lan (15-0) and Italy’s Gabriele Cimini (15-14) respectively, before losing in the final to Frenchman Romain Cannone with a score of 11- 15.

Seventh at the World Cup held in Switzerland, the Moroccan, who has already taken part in the Olympic Games in Japan, becomes the first Arab and African to win a World Cup medal.

He is, in particular, gold medalist (individual and team) at the 2019 African Championships in Bamako and 2018 in Tunis and at the 2019 African Games in Rabat.
