A student enrolled at Essec, a prestigious business school in France, attacked his roommate with an electric chainsaw on Wednesday evening in Cergy (Île-de-France), several French media report.
The weapon seriously injured the other student, also enrolled in this school. The latter was transferred to the Georges Pompidou hospital in Paris in a state of absolute emergency. The firefighters, called on the spot by other tenants, confirmed that they had intervened for a man injured with a chainsaw and found in the hall of the residence, located a few meters from Essec.
The perpetrator was arrested and taken into custody.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the attack did indeed take place in the apartment where the two young men in their twenties lived. The assailant allegedly struck the victim several times in the chest, arms and head with a small caliber chainsaw. The other student, however, would have managed to catch the machine to throw it out the window. At this stage, the police do not know if the device was on at the time of the attack. The aggressor will in any case have to answer for “attempted murder”.
